Things to Do in Banff

Banff National Park is a breath of fresh air.  A small mountain town with world class facilities located within 6641sq kilometres (2564sq miles) of World Heritage Site protected wilderness.  Home to spectacular mountain scenery, ancient glaciers, pristine mountain lakes, protected wildlife and year round adventure activities.

There are four National Parks that join to make the Canadian Rocky National Parks, Banff, Jasper, Yoho and Kootenay.  You'll find each has it's own sights, adventures and activities.

During our summer months, many visitors enjoy a leisurely pace to sightsee our turquoise coloured lakes, mountains with hanging glaciers and icefields and wildlife on our Banff guided sightseeing tours, scenic drives in their own vehicle with a GyPSy drive guide, or high above in the skies with heli sightseeing tours.

Others prefer an action paced vacation with mountain activities.  Whitewater rafting on the Kananaskis River or horseback riding in Banff are two of the most popular summer activities in Banff and advanced reservations are highly recommended. 

Join a small guided group on one of our signature hiking trails, golf surrounded by majestic mountains, while avoiding the elk on the fairways, paddle the shallow Vermillion Lakes in Banff in a canoe, or view hundreds of mountains from the Sulphur Mtn viewpoint via the Banff Sightseeing Gondola.

The pace doesn't slow in the winter months of November until late May, in fact we do more outside to keep warm!  Our light champagne snow is perfect for skiing and snowmobiling our spectacular Rocky Mountains.

Step into ice cleats and walk the trail to view waterfalls frozen in motion on an IceWalk tours.  Make maple taffy in the snow after a morning of snowshoeing to a sacred ocre beds Paint Pots site.   Have adorable huskies pull your sled along the Continental Divide trail that separates Alberta and BC on a dogsled tour.   Stargaze and roast mashmallows over the fire while listening to stories of past explorers on an Evening Campfire IceWalk.
